I thought some history of the Gay Pride flag would be appropriate, especially the date in which it debuted. It was first created in 1978 by artist Gilbert Baker and was shown at the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Freedom Day Parade. Obviously, homosexuality is not a new thing and they have been fighting for their rights for a long time. Each of the colors means something specific for the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community:
red-life
orange-healing
yellow-sunlight
green-nature
blue-serenity
violet-spirit

May 13, 2010 at 3:56 pm
why is being gay a crime
if your one of those people who are all about following Gods commandments in the old testament it also says that if a man has a son or daughter who is disobedient that child shall be dragged to the center of the town and stoned to death. should we be doing that too?
im straight and all for GLBT equality you should be too
July 4, 2010 at 6:27 am
i agree with ari.
July 30, 2009 at 2:06 pm
Im not gay, but I see nothing wrong with gay marriage. Gay people are people. And all the discrimination is wrong. I see nothing wrong with other people making their own decisions…
September 5, 2009 at 2:50 am
I am a Gay man and proud of that fact. I have no fear to say so and never will. I wish that all men like me should feel the same way but the fact is is that the world needs something to look down upon and were here and that is why we are being singled out. We as a people are nothing new, The Romans, Greeks, Vikings, Huns, and even the great men of jolly old England have been gay in the past and still to this day we are here and will be here for years to come. There is nothing wrong with us there is something wrong with the world who think being gay is a choice,we are born this way dammit and nothing will change the way we are. In love to all my fallen Rainbow brothers who have died at the hand of Ignorant people, love all ways ~Jeff~

If loving someone is wrong, regardless of skin tone or sex, what rights does a straight person have?

January 11, 2010 at 9:22 pm
im a lebian and you know what, im proud of it, so if u wanna call us weird then say it, because in the end maybe u will realise that we’re human just like the rest of you, two arms, two legs, and nobody cares what you think because we can be whatever we want to be. =)
April 16, 2011 at 4:28 pm
Well not exactly. I happen to be gay, but I lost a leg in a “fight”
I say “fight” because i was attacked from behind with an axe by someone screaming “God hates fags”
Hard to believe that a boy who has never stolen, said rude things, intentionally hurt someone, etc, will go to hell just for being gay, but a man who cuts someones leg off with an axe is perfectly in the clear…
People disgust me sometimes.
If I am gay, God made me that way…
January 22, 2010 at 12:59 am
We are all human. Simply, human.
The right to love is protected by a higher constitution than the American one.
LGBT pride!!
July 20, 2010 at 6:58 am
You damn right!
February 17, 2010 at 9:33 am
I think its funny, I see all these comments saying “faggot” and other discrimanating remaks. All because gay people want the same rights as straight people. Im gay, 23 years old and have been with the same person for going on 3 years. I cant get married no matter how loving of a relationship i may be in because as i understand it is not sactified. So tell me, how is it that straight couples can marry 4, 5, or 10 times for an aboundant amount of reasons other than love such as money and power (and that IS sactified) but two people of the same sex cant get married once for the right reasons?
March 17, 2010 at 5:07 am
heeyyy!! chears to all gay, lesbian and bisexual people!!! from uruguay!!
April 21, 2010 at 5:00 pm
LGBT pride is really the only thing, other than our significant others, that we have to hold onto anymore.Me?I’m planning on marrying my girlfriend. And if anyone has a problem with that then they have the problem not me.People need to relax, take a chill pill, and leave others alone.

Wow, Here I am with one outside my window (that pissed off my neighbors big time) and I never knew there were meanings to the colours, if anything I thought maybe colours had to do with groups (sing LGBTQ has been changesd to LGBTQQIAHU) which takes to long to explain and… sorry ranting 🙂

wow . there is nothing wrong with lesbian , bi , or gay people . they are just like us . so yes that means i am straight . but what right do we have to say that two people who are in love with each other cannot marry . that there is disgusting and inhumane . as said above , in the old testament it sais to stone your kid if they dissobay you.. who does that ? thats right noone . so why do people think that just because its in there , they have to hate gays . its terrible . we are taking away the birth right of these people by saying they cannot marry whom they choose . does it matter if they are the same sex ? no ! people say “its disgusting to even think about what they do in the bedroom” don’t thik about it ? don’t watch ? if you don’t like it , then don’t concern yourself in it . its none of your buisness anyway… that would be like going up to an overweight person and denying them the right to marry because some people think its gross what they may get up to in the privacy of their houses .
sorry for my long rant and my horrible grammar and spelling , im only 14 !
LBGT PRIDE FOREVER ❤

It’s not right to discriminate people like that, I think love is as it is, no matter who it involves! I’m strait, but I still support this!

Ya know, It really isn’t any of my business what another person/people do/does and furthermore how does what another person does affect me? If John and Joe get married, how exactly does it affect me? It doesn’t. If Jill and Jan get married, it still doesn’t affect me. For people so against gay marriage, how is it ANY of your business what two people, you don’t know, do? I don’t like a lot of things and that’s fine, I am not required to like everything in the known universe BUT I have to live with it and tolerate it regardless if I like it or not. It’s called LIFE. I think some laws are ridiculous and stupid but I still have to follow them. I don’t like to see ANYBODY, straight, gay, lesbian, bi, trans… don’t care, don’t like to see them making out in public. I don’t like it, it’s disrespectful. That is merely my opinion and I can’t stop people from doing it- I don’t have to like it but I do have to live with it. I don’t have to look at it either. So if Jill and Jan get married, you don’t have to like it, you don’t even have to support it BUT you MUST accept it. It is their decision NOT yours to make. Why do you even care if gay/lesbians get married? Its not like it is hurting you or causing you pain. You don’t have to look at two lesbians or gay men getting married, holding hands, kissing, etc etc… turn your head. Its none of your business anyway- so why don’t you just mind your own?
April 15, 2011 at 4:52 am
being gay is not normal and a sin… you faggots will all go to hell and faggots will never be aloud to marry faggots ever..
June 13, 2011 at 1:10 pm
My husband and I are straight and Christian but fully support ALL equal rights to the LGBT community (hell, to everyone). Those commenting with hateful comments need to move on and get a life (and/or grow a heart). It isn’t WHO you love but HOW you love that makes you a decent person.
Thanks for the information on what the colors mean. Love the manip too.

this is the best picture iv ever saw.
i remeber when i told my family i was bisexual my mother flipped her shit and thought i was doing this to spite her. and my milatary day was not to thrilled about it iether but at teh time he was in iraq so i could avoid him better. what really made me upset more then my mom saying i wasnt her daughter and that i was gonna burn above all that what hurt the most was when she said. ” your not bisexual thats just what gay peopel say. before they relize they are making a mastake.your fakeing this whole thing because you if you were truly …like this you wouldnt have such a problem saying it.” i cryed and cryed i didnt have a problem saying ” I WAS BI!” after my dad died in war my mom got pretty sad around the house and one day she wanted to end it all and ran over to her and said. “i promise that things will get better ill do anything ill clean the house everyday ill walk benny ill even stop being bisexcual just please dont kill yourself dont leave me.” and she looked at me and said ” you must really be bi if your willing to act straight to keep me alive” and thats when i knew she relized that this was who i was and it was never gonna change. yeah sure ill bring a boy home to meet the parents but along with that theres gonna be a girl or two ( not at the same time lol) in my life that i will truly care about like id care about a boy in all honoesty i think i like girls like a little bit more then boys but lol mom doesnt need to know that.

You know I believe that people should be able to live their lives the way they want to…. But this picture really make me mad. It is throwing off on the Marines. My daddy was a Marine and fought in WWII. I believe there are other ways to get your point across. You can live your life the way you want to but dont try to push it down my throat…
Linda
November 4, 2011 at 1:36 pm
Linda, I completely understand how you feel about this picture. However, you should realize that we, as lesbian/gay/bisexual/trans citizens have ALSO fought very hard to be treated as normal human beings. It is a war in its own right. I totally respect the fact that your Dad fought for us in WWII. He did something that I don’t think I would be capable of doing. I would just appreciate you respect and appreciation of what we have had to do in our lives.
I would never presume to push anything down your throat. There is a saying, though–
“Be careful who you hate…it might just be somebody you love!”
Thank You!
Wade

No-one is “shoving it down your throat”, Linda. You came here on your own accord. If you did not want to see gay rights memorabilia do not click on a page that specializes in it.
